Mandy started running in 2008, inspired by watching her sister complete the Women’s 10k in Glasgow.
Mandy has always been a social runner, running for fitness and only competing twice a year in the Women’s 10k and the Great Scottish Run. That changed when she met Owain at an informal running group at work and he introduced her to the exciting world of speed sessions and hill reps.
In 2010, she joined Pitreavie AAC, where Owain was team manager at the time. At Pitreavie, she successfully increased her speed and distance but, as a result of illness, wasn’t able to fully enjoy the benefits of club running.
During 2010 to 2015 she has struggled with illness and a couple of injuries which resulted in significant periods of not running. Following radioactive iodine treatment in May 2015, Mandy has returned to running and is looking forward to getting back to regular 10k running.
