Time to recharge

I've not been running since Sunday.

Monday I was off work for the first time in over 5 years! I have been back at work since Tuesday but still not feeling up to running and it's not because I don't want to. I really want to.

I don't see the point in pulling on my trainers when my body is trying to fix itself. It's just a stomach bug but as some of you may know, the stomach is the one part of your body you want to be OK before you head out on a run!

I had planned to make my debut at the Run and Become Wednesday night race series last night. It was a 3 x 1 mile relay and I really wanted to see where my 1 mile race time was at. It's been a while since I've ran 1 mile flat out without a session prior to it. I think there were 11 teams from Edinburgh AC last night which is great to hear, just annoyed I couldn't take part!

What have I been doing for the past week?

Other than wanting to run, I've been reading blogs by other runners and resting.

I've been researching video camera drones! Then spotted the price and decided it probably isn't going to happen!
I've been thinking of ways to improve the website and I've been thinking about our first Urban Run which is taking place tomorrow night.

I'm really looking forward to getting out at night with like minded people and running the streets of Edinburgh at 11pm!

There has been a fair bit of interest online and I just hope even a handful of people show up. The forecast is looking pretty good so far!

If I can manage the short run tomorrow evening then I'm thinking about heading up in to the Pentlands for a couple of hours of running on Sunday. I've entered the Antonine Trail Race which is in October and this is the big brother of the ATRX race I ran earlier in the year. Instead of 10k, it's 13 miles of trail and hills. I can't wait!

It will be my longest trail race so far and I'm really interested to see how I cope with so much off road and some brutal climbs!

Next weeks plan?

Next week I hope to be able to get back to training and putting in some solid miles again since it's only 4 weeks until Barry Buddon half marathon! I'd like to try and nail a 4,3,2,1 session at target half marathon pace. It might be a lot to ask but I can only try. It should at least give me a rough idea on how I am doing and whether I should adjust my target. Watch this space!
