All roads lead to Manchester Marathon 2021

It's been over a year since I last blogged and a lot has happened but at the same time, nothing has happened.

My last blog was after my last race, Inverness half marathon. Since then, I've ran a number of virtual races but it's not the same. A virtual race doesn't have the same feel as toeing the line with others. Running solo is not easy, especially when trying to run at race effort.

A year has passed.

Last year I was meant to run Manchester marathon, it was obviously cancelled when the true scale of the COVID pandemic took hold. I took a refund and put my entry fee in to Edinburgh marathon with the thought that we would be racing again by May 2021, unfortunately, that isn't possible . Edinburgh marathon has gone virtual again this year but we have been given the option to defer to next year, I've chosen to do this but I have also signed back up to Manchester marathon which will hopefully be in October this year.

The hope is that Manchester will go ahead and it's my intention to race it.

Over the coming weeks and months, I plan to blog about the ups and downs of marathon training, the good, the bad and the painful.

I'll also be posting on my instagram feed on a daily basis and posting my runs on strava.

I'm really looking forward to start blogging more about my running and looking forward to you all virtually runningbeside.me
