A week of no excuses

Last week I said I was starting a new training plan and I had also decided I needed to lose a bit of weight. With that in mind I pulled on my trainers and got out there.

Monday: 6 miles
Tuesday: 8 miles which was 1 mile warm up, 10x 1k reps, 1 mile cool down
Wednesday: 8 miles
Thursday: 6 miles, 1 mile warm up, 4 miles of hill reps, 1 mile cool down
Friday: I had a rest day
Saturday: Nice easy 4 miles in the morning before heading to Glasgow
Sunday: Steady 12 miles out to Cramond Island.

Total of 45 miles for the week.

I was pretty happy with that, it's not as much as the plan states but I'm getting a balance of running and not doing too much too soon. I had thought about doing 20 miles on Sunday but then common sense kicked in. I have the John Muir Way ultra this weekend and doing a 20 miler the week before wasn't going to help me.

This week I'll be doing 10 miles tonight, 8 miles on Tuesday, 6 miles on Wednesday, 4 miles on Thursday and then rest on Friday. A mini taper I guess.

I'm really looking forward to the run at the weekend - It will be my second ever ultra and it's along some amazing trails which should be great. It's also organised by the great crew at Foxtrail Scotland so I know everything will be top notch and brilliantly organised. Lets hope the weather can be as good as last weekend!
