Did you hear that? That was the sound of my body telling me to rest and to cut this morning's run short. I headed out thinking "It'll be fine once I get going" but it really wasn't. I wouldn't say I dreaded every step, I just wasn't in the mood for a run and the run wasn't helping me get in to the mood.
The plan was to do 6 easy miles but by mile 3 I wanted it to end and I took a shortcut to get me home within 5 miles.
Even with this amazing sunrise I just couldn't motivate myself to do the extra mile.
I told myself, you can run 7 miles tonight to make up your daily miles target, but as the day went on I found myself struggling to concentrate at work. I was tired and not just physically tired, mentally tired as well.
I've taken the night off, put the Christmas decorations up and this blog is going to be super short so I can get to bed a bit earlier than I have been.
I want to get up tomorrow morning, nice and bright and feel like I want to run. I'm already considering putting in an 8 mile tempo run since I'm out with my work for our Christmas lunch tomorrow and I'll miss track tomorrow evening.
I'll let you all know how I get on with that tomorrow. My plan is to try and get a blog on at lunch time so that I don't try and blog after a couple of beers! Although, it might make for a better post if I do try and type it with a couple of beers in me!
Anyway, the short of it is, sometimes you just need to put your feet up, recharge the batteries and come back stronger for the next run.
